Bi-metal contact thermometer

Bimetal (also thermal bimetal) refers to a metallic strip that is composed of 2 layers of separate metals joined together. Typically, they change their shapes as they are heated because the two metals expand at different rates and, thus, force the strip to bend one way. The bimetal is excellently suited for the production of bimetallic thermometers or temperature switches.

Bimetals are used for control purposes such as the temperature-dependent automatic actuation of valves, in switching operations and sometimes also in measuring instruments.

That is the reason why the bimetallic contact thermometer is particularly suitable for the use in areas like heating, ventilation and sanitary. The metallic strip is fixed via a spring (A Th ∅ F).
