The solar energy in Germany has taken hold in a broad market, particularly through the dissemination of flat-plate collectors that are still popular. In the matter of energy efficiency, however, tube collectors are the first choice.
Tube collectors operate on the principle of thermos flasks:
A liquid in a double-walled tube is heated by incident sunlight and the resulting heat is protected by an intermediate vacuum.
There are two different principles of operation:
With Indirect Flow tube collectors, the liquid must first be vaporized in a tube - the heatpipe, before the heat is supplied to the heating circuit.
Direct Flow tube collectors, however, absorb the heat directly in the tube. OEG recommends the heatpipe system because of its easier installation. A tube replacement is possible even during operation without draining the heat transfer medium.
But if needed, OEG also supplies Direct Flow systems, of course.
