Magnesium chain anode 858 mm long with connection M8 x 30

Magnesium chain anode for corrosion protection in hot-water storage tank. The chain anode is ideal for retrofitting and anode replacement in tanks with low ceiling height.

The individual chain links are cast in spacings of 32 mm on a flexible steel wire strand with a diameter of 3 mm. The number is arbitrary and based on the surface or the height of the storage tank to be protected. If required, the length can be shortened.

The physiologically safe magnesium is the basest material in the electromotive series and thus ideal as a so-called sacrificial anode.
The tank wall made of steel and the magnesium anode form a galvanic element.
In enamelled steel tanks the current flows from the magnesium anode to the defects in the enamelling of the tank. Whereas the magnesium is gradually disintegrated through the current discharge and through intrinsic corrosion, the defects are subject to a reduced potential, which prevents the steel from corroding.
