12 interested specialist craftsmen from the Netherlands visited the OEG at the Lienen production site from Friday to Saturday.

On Friday, the group started in the early afternoon with a tour of the memory production. All important and interesting production steps were explained live: from the automated winding of the stainless steel corrugated pipe and the heat exchangers, through the plasma cutter and welding stations, to the foaming of the high-quality insulation.

Then the solar and storage seminar started.
Here, the focus was primarily on the 4flex + ® heatpipe tube and hygiene storage. The demand for solar thermal energy is currently rising strongly due to the promotion of solar systems on the Dutch market. An important topic on this day was the promotion by the RVO and above all the most important quality features of the 4flex tube were discussed in detail. The customers were particularly enthusiastic about the integrated temperature shutdown, the low maintenance and the very easy installation of the 4flex solar systems. With a 20-year warranty on the solar tubes and a 10-year warranty on the OEG storage, the specialist tradesman stands out from the competition in customer talks.

All participants made intensive discussions and after the subsequent dinner they exchanged experiences late into the night.

Experts from commerce and trade can obtain information about oil heating even easier in the future. The Hamburg Institute for Heat and Oil Technology (IWO) offers a new service for this purpose: the IWO Reader. The app for mobile devices with the operating systems Android (Google) and iOS (Apple) - other operating systems (such as Windows mobile) are currently not supported - provides helpful information free of charge. These include, for example, a technical guide to troubleshooting and brochures on the topics heating oil and heating oil tank as well as current studies by the IWO.

The recently published new edition of the textbook "Technische Regeln Ölanlagen" (TRÖl 2.0) can also be read as an eBook with the IWO Reader. Anyone who has bought TRÖl 2.0 as an eBook can download it and unlock it on three mobile devices by purchasing a book code.

Downloading the app is easy: Just open the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store on the appropriate mobile device, type "IWO Reader" in the search and start the installation. Afterwards users can select and download the desired information material and brochures.

The Institute for Heat and Oil Technology (IWO) published in March a new, completely revised edition of the technical book "Technische Regeln Ölanlagen" (TRÖl). The standard work provides a compilation of the regulations and framework conditions for the installation of oil heating systems and provides all the information needed for the planning, construction, operation, maintenance and filling of an oil plant. Also, the new TRwS 791 "fuel oil consumer equipment" Part 1 is completely reprinted. The 450-page "TRÖl 2.0" is available directly at www.troel.de. How can customer support and advising be improved?

5 OEG sales representatives have got an answer to this question: learning by doing!
So the Friday before last they knuckled down and rolled up their sleeves. With an OEG service technician on-site a 4flex® solar system was installed. After a short briefing, it all started with the mounting of rafter anchors and rails on the roof. This was easily done within only a short time and they could begin to mount the 4flex®tubes. After the first tube had been fixed onto the mounting rail with just one screw, the other tubes weighing only 2.2 kg could be rapidly mounted onto the roof with the simple click-fit system - no additional tools neccessary. Now they only had to install the Spirovent solar micro bubble separator, fix the connection sets and connect the corrugated solar pipe. All the roof work was finished then.
After a short coffee break, work continued in the attic. The expansion vessel and the solar station were installed and connected with the solar line. After the pre-pressure had been checked and set at 1.2 bar and the collector and tank sensor had been connected, the system could be filled by means of the OEG filling station. Only the adjustment of the OEG controller KS2W was left to be done. All the participants were enthusiastic about how uncomplicated the adjustment of the parameters was. Then the great moment was there - commissioning!
All the employees were proud of their first selfmade 4flex® solar power system and they are already looking forward to their next learning-by-doing project.

On Saturday, October 18th 2014, a group of 14 customers once again took the opportunity to attend the tank and solar technology seminar at OEG and to witness the company's tank production first hand.

Besides the improved 4flex solar pipes and the thermal management of 4plus collectors, high-quality hygienic storage tanks were very well received by the customers.

After a short "trip" to the webshop, where the seminar participants learnt about tips and tricks, they took a closer look at all production steps from the pipe coil to the completion of the final storage tank. At a leisurely dinner, the day was reflected upon and the group exchanged their experiences.

The energy program progres.nrw - module "market introduction" - has started again. The district government of Arnsberg has the nationwide responsibility for this as a licensing authority. As in previous years, citizens, businesses and companies can submit applications for example for solar collectors and biomass plants, ventilation systems with heat recovery, heat transfer stations for the use of district heating or for combined heat and power plants (CHP).

Demand experienced a veritable boom in the last year of funding. There were a total of approx. 8,800 applications with a total of around 19.2 million euros will be approved. Both citizens and companies take the energy transition more and more into their own hands through the "triad", namely the efficient use of energy, the saving of energy and the generation of renewable energies.

The subsidy program progres.nrw grants you:

New buildings (proof that the solar thermal system does not fulfill the requirements of EEWärmeG1, built after 01/01/2009) and existing buildings (year before 01/01/2009) for the installation of a solar thermal system for drinking water heating and heating support a subsidy of 90, - € per square meter of collector surface. This subsidy can be cumulated with the federal market incentive program via the BAFA.

An important solar tube component is the getter. This is a barium layer which is applied to the internal side of the tube after the vacuum has been created. In this way, the vacuum is additonally protected from air / foreign molecules and a defective tube will be indicated immediately by a white colouration of the getter.

The OEG 4flex® heat pipe solar tube has the largest getter all across the market and a TiNOx coating which is supposed to absorb 96% of the incident solar energy and emits only 4% back to the environment. This is currently the best available coating for solar collectors.

Other solar tubes in the market often only have a small getter of unspecified length and the barium layer is difficult to control.

A temperature difference of 130 K is not unusual with a solar system. Winter nights with temperatures of -30°C and sunny days with collector temperatures of about 100°C mean enormous strain fo a solar collector.

Besides the low-iron soda lime glass and the copper heat pipe, only high-quality materials are used with the OEG 4flex® heat pipe. High-quality EPDM rubber flanges insulate and protect the glass-metal seals.

Other tubes in the market only have thin rubberized end flanges to cover the mechanical glass-metal seal.

The OEG 4flex® heatpipe tube is a hermetically sealed and welded copper pipe within a vacuum. There are no soldered weak points. The connection of the tube with the absorber is by springs.

Other solar tubes in the market have soldered connections within the vacuum, which might lead to weak points with regard to tightness.

With the OEG 4flex® heat pipe, you have high-quality protective EPDM rubber caps at the lower end of the tube. Thanks to these caps, you can place the tube on the ground during the installation of the system and at the same time prepare your work place reasonably.

Other solar tubes in the market do not have this kind of protection.

With the OEG 4flex® heat pipe, high-quality low-iron soda lime glass is exclusively used. These tubes have been manufactured in Europe with a 30-year experience. That is the reason why we are able to give you a 20-year warranty on the vacuum of the tubes.

With other solar tubes in the market, borosilicate glass is used. This might draw helium in case of high temperatures and thus impair the vacuum. Very often, you will also find visible lines from glass processing with air pockets which might lead to a higher fragility.

With the OEG 4flex® heat pipe, the unique temperature limitation in the capacitor switches off at 90°C automatically. Only when the temperature decreases, the generation of energy will be resumed. Thus, all components and the solar fluid is protected.

No other solar tube in the market provides this advantage. They only have empty capacitor heads and no temperature limitation which leads to excessive thermal load in the system and solar fluid.

With the OEG 4flex® heat pipe, the capacitor head is conneced with the tube via a high-quality corrugated stainless steel pipe connection. It intercepts tensions which are created by different temperatures.

Other tubes in the market have rigid connections, which are not able to compensate tensions between glass and capacitor.

With the OEG 4flex® heat pipe, the tube is completely welded and 100% controlled. Thus, we can achieve a long-lasting vacuum in the heatpipe tube.

Other tubes used in the market have seals with plugs.

A solar system mainly consists of the following components: collectors, pump group and storage tank. The pump group transports the solar liquid heated by collectors into the storage tank where its water is thus heated up. When the water in the tank has reached its maximum temperature, the pump group switches off and no more heat is taken away from the solar collectors. This is why they usually get so hot. So hot that the solar liquid vapourises in conventional collectors. As a consequence the solar liquid ages rapidly or even gets harmed. Additionally, all the components are afflicted by the high temperatures. In order to protect the solar liquid as well as the components, the 4flex+ tubes provide a patented overheat protection in the capacitor. As soon as the temperature in the capacitor rises up to 90° C, bimetal discs lying on top of each other close a valve that prevents more working fluid from rising from the heat pipe into the capacitor. It also prevents from giving off heat to the solar liquid. Thus it is effectively avoided that the solar liquid vapourises (see right part of the picture). When the storage tank can take up heat again, when the pump group works again, when the solar liquid is recirculated and the temperature in the capacitor drops below 90° C, the bimetal discs open the valve and the system returns to its normal operating state.

The OEG heat pipe vacuum tube collector 4flex is one of the most modern solar tubes and satisfies highest demands on efficiency, safety and flexibility.

In the 4flex solar tubes there is a copper absorber in a vacuum glass tube. Due to the vacuum, heat losses are minimized, like in a thermos flask.

At the rear side of the absorber there is copper pipe also placed in a vacuum: the heat pipe. It is filled with a little amount of working fluid. The vacuum inside the heat pipe causes the fluid to vapourise starting from a temperature of 28° C.

With solar radiation, the absorber takes up the energy and warms up. This is when the working fluid in the heat pipe starts to boil and changes from a liquid to a gaseous state. The resulting vapour rises to the top end of the heat pipe into the capacitor. Via the capacitor the heat pipe conveys the heat to the solar liquid and the working fluid condenses again and flows back down through the copper tube. If there is sufficient sun radiation, this cycle is repeated continuously..

The dry connection of the heatpipe tubes in the 4flex headers, the small amount of working fluid and this patented overheat protection ensure a particularly high operating safety of the 4flex. Due to the dry connection, individual tubes can be exchanged if necessary without having to drain the solar liquid from the solar unit. Modern click-fit technology allows fast, easy and flexible one-man assembly. Individual tubes can be plugged together in order to generate solar collectors of a perfectly aligned size.

With one of the latest state-of-the-art productions, OEG has built an extensive, technically high-quality storage tank portfolio during recent years. You will not only find the storage take you are looking for, but also in the exact size. You can also choose between different colours, like silver, white, blue or red.

*if installation and annual maintenance are carried out by specialized craft businesses. With enamelled storage tanks, the use of a Correx inductive anode is a necessary requirement.

Especially on summer days with extreme sunshine lots of customers wonder what to do with the heat?

On these days, you will likely see solar systems covered with bed sheets, blinds for collectors and other crazy solutions.

With the refined 4flex+ tube, these problems now belong to the past ! This successor of the well-known 4flex tube is working based on the heat pipe-principle, which means: It has an automatic switch-off at 90° C.

So do not worry any longer : if it is getting too hot, the automatic switch-off will solve the problem!

Fresh and hot water is an essential component of life. Whether used for drinking, cooking, showering or washing your Hands, having unlimited amounts of drinking water at any temperature is one of the main achievements of modern society. It is very often taken for granted that the water quality is hygienically perfect. Conventional drinking water tanks, which store a large quantity of heated water for a long period of time, cannot always fulfill these requirements without exception. Largely dimensioned drinking water tanks with low storage temperatures and a temperature layering are energetically common (e.g. a heating system with heat pump and solar thermal support). These factors, however, add to the formation of a sediment layer at the bottom of the tank, which also presents an ideal breeding ground for bacteria (e.g. legionella).

That is the reason why the freshwater technology applied in hygienic tanks has so many advantages for the hygiene of water.

These hygienic storage tanks meet the latest thermotechnical and water-hygienic requirements. Their construction is fundamentally different from those common, large-volume drinking water storage tanks. With hygienic storage tanks, a built-in corrugated stainless steel pipe separates drinking water from heating water and serves as a powerful heat exchanger at the same time. Thus, all the advantages of a buffer storage tank are combined with those of an instantaneous water heater.

The heating water actually serves as a heat storage tank while the drinking water runs through the corrugated stainless steel pipe only when required and gets heated as a result. In this way, the consumer gets hygienically perfect fresh water at the desired temperature at any time.
